The S-5-KHD Clamp stands for Klip-Rib® Heavy Duty. It can be used for new construction but can also be retrofitted for some applications. The most heavy-duty and durable clamp in the S-5! family, the KHD fits the very distinctive profiles of the Lysaght® Klip-Lok 406, McElroy Mirage, Metal Sales Clip-Loc and AEP Span Klip-Rib®.
KHD is significantly stronger than anything else on the market for these profile types. The clamp is geared for snow retention systems and other heavy-duty applications where holding strength is critical.
The insert placed inside the intermediate seam provides for a holding capacity of more than 3,000 pounds. Such incredible strength requires fewer rows of snow guards than any other option.
Rigorous load testing is performed on all S-5! clamps. Parallel-to-seam testing (drag load) is performed on all standard clamps.
Choose the KHD to mount fall protection, snow guards and other “super-duty” applications to Klip-Rib and similar concealed-fix metal roofs.
KHD can be used only at the eave location of pre-existing roofs. When more than one row of snow retention is needed, the S-5-K Grip Snow can be used to supplement with additional rows and does not require the in-seam insert. (Contact [email protected] for design assistance).
Lighter-duty applications can be handled with the S-5-K Grip or K-Grip Mini.

Concealed-Fix
For installation at the eave, slide the insert into the rib at the desired location. Position the clamp over the rib at the insert location. Tighten the Torx Drive (T-30) setscrews to the specified tension. Then, affix ancillary items using the bolt (provided with standard KHD clamp). For installation on new construction, snap the 6” insert into the roof profile as it is laid down. Before it is set in place, be sure to note the location of the insert for installation of the clamp at a later time.

However, due to the ensuing oxidation process which acts as a natural thread lock, we can express no opinion to the performance of a clamp once it has been removed and reinstalled or the ability to remove the clamp after this process has occurred.
