The S-5-Q clamp (“Q” represents the shape of the clamp) allows for the attachment of snow guards and other heavy-duty applications to metal roof panels featuring large, round (such as Zip-Rib®, BEMO, Kalzip®) and similar “bulb” seam configurations. The clamp features a two-piece design that makes it easy to install anywhere along the seam.
The Q will also fit smaller, “bulb-shaped” profiles (dia ≤ 0.75”; 19 mm) if the seam is not properly closed. (Also, check out the more cost-effective S-5-Z for these applications when seams are properly closed).
Minis Available
The Q Mini clamp is a more economical solution for lighter-duty attachments where Herculean holding strength is not required.
All standard and Mini clamps undergo rigorous load testing. Negative load normal-to-seam testing (pull-up) is performed on all Mini clamps, and parallel-to-seam testing (drag load) is performed on all standard clamps.

The Z is a better buy for seam diameters of 0.75” (19 mm) or smaller when seamed correctly. Choose the Q when the diameter of the finished seam is larger.
Standing Seam Bulb Shape
Using the ergonomic finger grip “tail” of the insert, position the insert at the desired location against the base of the seam and just below the bulbous portion (either side of the seam). Rotate the clamp into place over both the seam and insert. Hold this assembly in place with one finger, while tightening the round point Torx Drive (T30) setscrews to the specified tension. Then, affix ancillary items using the bolt (provided with standard Q clamp; sold separately for the Q Mini).

However, due to the ensuing oxidation process which acts as a natural thread lock, we can express no opinion to the performance of a clamp once it has been removed and reinstalled or the ability to remove the clamp after this process has occurred.
